Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 22, 2026
The short version: We do not collect your name, email address, or any information that directly identifies you. We collect anonymous usage data to improve the app. To analyze your bike fit, Baico sends the photo you take during a fitting session — which shows your body and posture — to a third-party AI service, Anthropic. Because that photo is your personal data, we ask for your explicit permission before sending it, and we tell you exactly what is sent and to whom. You can decline, and Baico will not transmit your photo.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Anonymous Usage Analytics
We use Google Firebase Analytics to understand how people use Baico. This helps us improve features and fix issues. Firebase collects:
- App events and usage patterns (e.g., which screens are visited, session duration, feature interactions)
- Device type and operating system version
- App version
- Crash reports and performance data
- Conversion funnel data (e.g., whether users complete a fitting session, or complete a purchase)
Firebase Analytics assigns a random device identifier for analytics purposes. This identifier is not linked to your name, email, or any other directly identifying information.
We do not use Firebase to collect or store your name, email address, phone number, or any other contact information.
For more information on how Google handles analytics data, see Google's Privacy Policy.
1.2 Photos Taken During Fitting Sessions
During a bike fitting session, Baico captures a photo of you positioned on your bike. Because this photo shows your body and posture, we treat it as your personal data and handle it accordingly.
What we send. To analyze your fit, Baico transmits the fitting-session photo to Anthropic's API (the third-party AI service that powers Baico's biomechanics analysis). Only the image itself is sent. No name, email, device identifier, location, or other metadata is attached to or transmitted alongside the photo.
We ask first. Before Baico sends your photo to Anthropic for the first time, the app clearly explains — in a consent prompt inside the app — what is sent and who it is sent to, and asks for your permission. Baico does not transmit your photo unless you grant permission. If you decline, the AI analysis cannot be performed, but no photo leaves your device for that purpose. You can withdraw this permission at any time in the app's settings; withdrawing it stops any future transmission of your photos.
What happens to it. Your photo is used solely to generate your fit analysis and recommendations. It is not stored on our servers after the analysis response is returned, and it is not used to identify you, build a profile, train models, or for advertising.
Third-party protection. Anthropic processes the photo only to return the analysis and provides data protection that is equivalent to the standards described in this policy. For details on how Anthropic handles data sent to its API, see Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
1.3 In-App Purchases
Baico offers consumable credit packs via Apple's In-App Purchase system (StoreKit). All payment processing is handled entirely by Apple. We do not collect, process, or store your payment information. Purchase records are managed by Apple and may be referenced by our backend solely to validate and credit your purchase. See Apple's Privacy Policy for details.
2. Information We Do NOT Collect
To be explicit, Baico does not collect:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your phone number
- Your location
- Health or biometric data stored in Apple Health
- Any contact information or account credentials that identify you
The one piece of personal data Baico handles is the fitting-session photo described in Section 1.2, which is sent for analysis only with your permission and is not retained after analysis.
3. How We Use the Information We Collect
| Data | Purpose | Shared With |
|---|---|---|
| Firebase Analytics events | Understand feature usage and improve the app | Google Firebase |
| Crash and performance reports | Fix bugs and ensure stability | Google Firebase |
| Fitting session photos | Generate AI-powered biomechanics analysis (with your consent; not retained) | Anthropic |
| Purchase validation data | Confirm and credit in-app purchases | Apple, our backend |
4. Data Sharing and Third Parties
We share data with the following third-party services, strictly as described above. Each provides data protection equivalent to the standards set out in this policy:
- Anthropic — receives your fitting-session photo (only after you grant permission) to perform the AI biomechanics analysis. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
- Google Firebase — anonymous analytics and crash reporting. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- Apple — in-app purchase processing and validation. See Apple's Privacy Policy.
- Railway — our backend infrastructure, used solely for purchase validation and proxying the analysis request to Anthropic; it does not store your personal data.
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers or any other third parties.
5. Data Retention
- Analytics data is retained by Firebase according to Google's standard retention policies (default: 2 months for user-level data, up to 14 months for aggregate data).
- Fitting session photos are not retained after the AI analysis response is returned. They are transmitted, analyzed, and discarded.
- Purchase validation records are retained only as long as necessary to service your purchase credits.
6. Children's Privacy
Baico is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any data from children. If you believe a child has used the app and provided any information, please contact us and we will take steps to address it.
7. Your Rights and Choices
- Consent to AI analysis. You choose whether to send your fitting photo to Anthropic. You can grant or decline this at the consent prompt, and you can withdraw permission at any time in the app's settings.
- Analytics. You can opt out of Firebase Analytics collection using your device's system-level tracking settings (Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking), and you can reset your advertising identifier there.
- Access and deletion. Because we do not retain your fitting photos and do not collect directly identifying information, there is generally no stored personal data to access, correct, or delete. If you have a specific request, contact us and we will respond.
8. Security
All data transmitted by Baico (including fitting session photos and purchase validation calls) is sent over encrypted HTTPS connections. We use industry-standard practices to protect any data in transit.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of Baico after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
